Garden Party

Join us for a Fall-friendly Garden Party to kick off the new season.  There will be brats on the grill, some fun music, and plenty of friends to visit with!  We will also follow up on some business from our membership and elections meeting that needs to be voted on. A dinner plate costs $10.00 (brat, potato salad, sauerkraut, roll, pickle & bottled water). Tickets can be purchased at the door or online.

Oktoberfest

As one of Utah’s largest cultural events, thousands will attend Oktoberfest at Snowbird each weekend from Aug 18-Oct 20.  With free entrance to live entertainment, music, vendor booths and a variety of food, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to say hello to our fellow German-American Society members who are dressed in dirndls/lederhosen and seated near the front of the stage. Parking costs $10; carpooling is encouraged.

Bach 333 Concert

In celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach’s 333rd birthday, we present a concert featuring solo and ensemble versions of his most popular compositions. There will be an hors d'oeuvres reception afterwards.  This is a free event; a donation of $15 is suggested.

German Chorus Harmonie Practices

The German Chorus Harmonie begins rehearsals for our Christmas Concert on October 16th. They will be held weekly on Tuesdays from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.  We are always looking for new singers to join us, especially tenors and altos. In addition, if you have children or grandchildren between the ages of 6-15 we would love to have them participate in the Christmas Concert.  Contact Lothar Gulla, Music Director, for details 801.554.2816

 

Volkstrauertag

Join us on the German National Day of Mourning (Memorial Day) as we pay tribute to the German prisoners of war who died in Utah. This event, which includes speakers, a wreath laying ceremony, and music from the German Chorus Harmonie, is sponsored by the German Consul’s Office.  This event is held outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

Adventsfeier

Christkindlmarkt

Bring your family and friends to experience a European Christmas at This is the Place Heritage Park.  Visit the German American Society booth for some traditional German treats and gifts for your neighbors and co-workers. Come help support our organization as we raise operating funds for the year from the proceeds of our sales.

Christmas Concert

Holiday memories will come alive at the annual Christmas Concert performed by the German Chorus Harmonie, the Kinderchor, and special musical guests. It’s a very well-attended event so make sure you come early to get seats. This is a fun tradition for many families to help share their heritage and Christmas traditions. Tickets prices: $8 General Admission, $4 for GAS Members and Children under 16 years, or $25 for a family (2 adults and up to 4 children); they can be purchased online or at the door.
